Bekah turned 2!

My baby girl is no longer a baby anymore! She had her 2nd birthday on Dec 20th and had a blast! She asked for a Dora birthday cake which of course I made for her. She had two friends over Ryker and Riley plus all her immediate family. Bekah loved opening all the presents everyone so generously gave her. She got so much Dora stuff that I dont think there is much else out there for her to own. Owell she loves it all!

Scott and I really couldnt believe she was only turning 2 because she pretty much does everything Ryan does. It makes her seem so much older. But she still has those 2 yr old tendencies that we love/hate. Such as crying when going to bed and wanting to cuddle long after waking. Still taking long naps most days of the week that is as long as Scott is not home. Bekah is such a joy in our home!

Our Wild Monkey!

One week after her 2nd birthday Bekah decided to start using the potty. When I say Bekah decided Im not kidding. Scott and I had no desire to start training her since we still have so many issues with Ryan. But Bekah insisted and started taking herself potty. She would pull down her pants and take off the diaper, push a stool to the potty, climb up, go potty, get down, wash her hands, pull up her pants, and then finally run out screaming with excitement that she went potty! So Scott and I realized at that moment it wasnt up to us. After one week and only one pee pee accident in her panties I can say she is trained. She isnt 100% trained on the poopy but has had some success. But in her defense I did put her in bed with a diaper on most occasions. Did I mention that she refuses help and asks for privacy! Too cute!

Because of the potty success we then decided that Bekah could have her big girl bed. She had asked for it previously but we just werent ready however we decided she earned the right to have it now. Plus we thought it would help because she doesnt even like to pee in her diaper. This way she could just run to the potty on her if needed. We dreaded putting this girl in a big girl bed afraid she would never stay in it. However, she has proved us wrong once again! She does get out once in a while but nothing like Ryan did and still tends to do when she is not exhausted! Anyway, the new bed was a huge success. She loves it and so do we. It makes some things easier for all of us!

I never thought that my baby girl would grow up the day she turned 2 but that is what has happened. Dont worry I know she is still only 2 but man she seems so big now!

Jennifer, great job on the cake!! You have some impressive cake decorating skills. I'm still trying to learn to ice a cupcake and have more icing on the cupcake than my hands :)

And I'm so glad that the big girl bed and potty training is going so well. Its amazing how kids can suprise us. What we think will be hard turns out easy, and what we think will be easy turns out hard!! You are doing an amazing job as a mommy...wish we lived closer!
